Stanford Scientists Find That Finding Your Passion is Pretty Terrible Advice
This article from Inc. magazine says that there may be better alternatives than finding your passion when it comes to career advice.
Read this article and reflect on it. What is your passion? Why might following that passion not be good career advice? What might be a better strategy for you?
Write an article about one page double spaced (about two paragraphs) reflecting on this article. Give specific examples of how using your time to find your passion might not be productive. Or, if you disagree, give specific counterexamples.
Think about your own career objective. Would you want to work in a large company like Google, Facebook, Apple, EA? Would finding your passion help you be successful at a company like that? Would you want to work at a small company like a startup company? Would finding your passion help you be successful there? Would you want to work at your family business? Would finding your passion help you there? Do you want to be an entrepreneur and work by yourself or create your own company? Would finding your passion help you there?
This assignment is due on Friday, March 22 at the beginning of class. Please do this assignment at home on your own time. Do not use class time to work on this unless you are all caught up with the other class assignments.
